Poor workmanship, theft, scammer

Screwed Over
Pool builder put the pool in the ground without a construction certificate, causing stress and major delays to the project to rectify with local council.
Retaining walls were built as part of the contract but under a separate development application. The pool builder did not pay the subcontractor. The subcontractor contacted us for payment however we paid the pool builder because the contract for the works is with them, They will not proceed with an occupancy certificate because of monies owed to them.
A private certifier was engaged for the pool build and they will not issue an occupancy certificate because the pool builder has not paid the certifier.
The pool builder contacted us to advise that the heat pump had been recalled and needed to be replaced. The builder took the heat pump but did not replace straight away. It took six months and constant chasing up to get the heat pump replaced.
A channel drain was installed as part of the project and has been left open with no drain covers. Were promised a number of times that this would be done and still not completed.
The project has taken over 18 months for a fiberglass pool, retaining walls, pool fencing, equipment and concrete surrounds.
We had similar experience to another post on this review site. Has been a very stressful and distressing experience.
A ten star job – by a great team, at a very good price
We were compelled, when a dodgy pretend builder (Corey Lohrey) abandoned our build at roofing stage, to take over as reluctant owner builders in order to get our home completed. Engaging a plasterer was one of the first challenges, as prices were rising fast and another price rise was imminent. I obtained six quotes. Nick, from NC Linings, quoted much less than any other, and he was young, which raised doubts. But I took the gamble and signed a contract with him, and I could not have wished for a better job. Nick and his team were a pleasure to have on site: polite, obliging, eager to please, skilled and diligent. They did an absolutely fantastic job, even adding some finishing touches that weren’t included in the specs. When hubby and I mentioned that we disliked the way an opening looked. Nick quickly packed out the flat side that looked weird and plastered it to create a neat and attractive finish. When I remarked that the ceiling in the entry cloak cpd was ridiculously high, he lowered it. No complaints. No hesitation. His team were lovely guys – a pleasure to have on site.
I’d give them TEN stars without hesitation if I could. I have no hesitation in giving them the strongest recommendation possible.
If you want a great job at a fair price, Nick is your man!
Total disaster, and a law breaker
If this guy contacts you, run a hundred miles as fast as you can. There is nobody more inept, sloppy, uncaring, greedy, and with less regard for contracts, laws and client rights.
He destroyed the lives of at least 17 families (that I know of!). Ripped off with illegal advance charges for works that he never did. Gouged with horrific, unfair overcharges. Bullied and harassed demanding payments that were not rightly due, threatening to quit the job If not paid (which he did anyway!)
A total disaster and someone to be avoided at all costs.
His site cut caused major flooding of our site and pushed our costs up by tens of thousands due to being done so badly. He was onsite a couple of times for no more than a few hours during the entire build until he illegally abandoned the job at roofing stage, having already charged to enclosure stage illegally. He engaged an unlicensed concreter who did a terrible job. Roofers couldn’t proceed because he failed to erect essential support posts and he ”didn’t know scaffold was required”. Hopelessly disorganised and totally incompetent in every way.

Pool builder has not supplied equipment that has been paid for.
Pool builder substituted equipment with cheaper/smaller equipment.
Pool builder did not complete a full day work in a year.

Great at ripping off. About as incompetent as they come.
This guy claimed to prepare our site for residential construction and to do essential earth works after the slab was poured. What a nightmare! He clearly had no clue what he was doing – but he knew how to overcharge!
My husband had to drive into town to buy a battery for the faulty equipment he had brought with him. He was screaming abuse at his assistant the whole time he was working. He caused major flooding. The site was a deep dam on one side when he was ”done” and the concreters had to dig out with a shovel on the other side where he hadn’t excavated far enough.
He charged 5 times the going rate for the initial site works and for the further earth works, he sent two kids and a broken machine and charged hourly rates first for the time they spent trying to get the machine working, then for them to move dirt with shovels and a wheelbarrow because the machine was inoperable – an overcharge of at least $1200 if the work had been done properly, except it wasn’t!
There was no supervision and no follow-up inspection of the work the kids did. He was abusive when we advised that a neighbour jumped the fence to stop the kids pushing dirt over exposed steel in a manner that might have caused concrete cancer if they hadn’t been stopped. He was also abusive when we advised that one of the kids fell off the broken machine and he should pay more attention to safety rules. Responded to complaint with veiled threats and bullying. It has cost thousands to repair the massive damage he caused to the site. Trades working on the site joked about falling into ”Lake Lohrey”, but it wasn’t funny that large volumes of water lay against the slab.
He operated as a builder as well under ”Classy Homes Pty Ltd” and destroyed the lives of at least 17 families, leaving 15 jobs incomplete (mostly not even at frame stage after 3 years!) when the company liquidated and having just abandoned at least 2 projects part way through.
Careless and sloppy work, aggressive owners
We engaged the owner and his team to complete our driveway, footpath and pool surrounds.
They cracked the council drain with their deliveries. The owner also drove his bobcat into our new fence and broke it but didn’t say anything to us. We were told by our neighbour and then the owner had to fix it.
They also splashed wet concrete on our brand new front door, gave it a basic wipe, and then also denied doing this. They then tried to fix it (despite claiming they didn’t do it) and then paid for the door to be replaced (still denying they did it). Go figure. This is the type of owner you’re dealing with.
We also used them to do the outdoor tiling – some of these tiles are hollow as they were not laid properly.
The owners are abrasive and rude. We would not deal with them again.
Absolutely terrible
Operates under an illegal liscence never returns calls takes deposits disappears and overworkmanship incomplete and needs to be re done
Dodgy sandstone steps and retaining walls
Very poorly built sandstone steps. Unsafe, uneven filled with significant amount morter between steps. No base for steps to be built on. Retaining walls have half blocks in various places. One end sandstone block mounted onto railway sleeper that’s laying in the garden. Building materials dumped on property. Property damage (shed) + drain pipes. Too much more to add.
Installed damaged stone, wrongly measured Island Bench
Apparently, quality checks before installation, could not pickup damage, due to them having artificial lighting, so they installed scratched, dented, clamp marks, craters, and what looks light the wrong cleaning products, leaving severe mottling throughout benchtop, a tech is coming, two months after install – island bench incorrectly measured, although they had 3d plans showing fancy hampton style decorative skirting, HVGM, have said they’ve met all obligations, taking them to Fair Trade, not once did the stone masons ask me, to clarify side panels, although the island was a different pattern design and colour from the kitchen benchtops, with lambs tongue, it should of been 32ml, not 18ml, resulting in two sides being 5ml overhang, business is rude, ignore you, put the phone down on you!! Poer tower cut out was cut too big, stone inserts is too small and full of chips!!
Good honest auto mechanic
Honest mechanics are hard to find. Fair price, but no bogus repairs & job done well.
Builder does not follow building Regulations
Built a structural retaining wall without any prior engineering or planning approval and it encroached the neighbours boundary. I’ve been left in a legal dispute with my neighbour and it’s cost tens of thousand to put right. Silk Design and Construct washed their hands with it and refused to put matters right. QBCC was involved and has found them guilty of asking for excess deposits and not supplying a contract. Do your research on the QBCC and their license number.
Be very careful and do not take their word that they will supply the necessary paperwork to build because they did not in our case. Beware This builder cost me over $50000 in costs to rectify.
Amazing from start to finish
James and his team were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Professional, easy to communicate with, very understanding, and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely use them again.
Amazing experience
We had an excellent experience working with the folks at OJ Pippin, particularly Wayne, Chloe and Belinda. From start to finish, they were professional, reliable, and highly skilled. They communicated clearly, kept us informed at every stage and delivered exactly what they promised – and on time. The quality of their work is outstanding, They went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied, addressing any questions or adjustments promptly and professionally. We are thrilled with the results and would highly recommend OJ Pippin to anyone looking for a trustworthy, skilled builder who truly cares about their clients and the quality of their work.
Keep looking if you need a decent painter!
So, we used Clift to paint the whole house, inside and out. We had numerous issues:
They used a spray gun to paint most of the house, and covered many of our windows with a fine spray that they did not remove. They also got the trampoline.
They were unable to paint between the ceiling sheets in the soffits. This was too hard to do when we asked.
They stained our front door – painting it with a deck stain, not the clear coat as requested and then denied any responsibility.
Used different paints on the internal wood feature, making it tacky, and also matt and gloss on pieces of wood next to each other.
Forgot to paint the top of the external wall.
We eventually had to lodge a complaint to QBCC as they refused to fix any problems. Only when the QBCC inspector stated he would give a Direction to Rectify did the owner of Clift Painting address the issues with the internal wood feature (this was resolved within 4 hours, in spite of taking 1.5 years to refuse to fix).
Do not use these guys. They are unprofessional, rude, take no responsibility for bad workmanship, and to top it off, left a mess when here, both when eating their lunch and also with their materials.
